My master's thesis at Touro College asked a question that has shaped everything since: does the way we learn determine whether change lasts? Working with patients at ae Parkinson's Therapy Center, I tested whether adding real-time visual feedback to verbal postural training could produce durable improvement in a population whose disease corrupts their internal sense of their own posture. Because no instrument existed to make photographs metrically trustworthy, I designed and calibrated a film-plane grid attachment that turned an ordinary 35mm camera into a measurement device. The thesis taught me two convictions that still govern my scholarship: that durable change depends on how learning happens, and that honest measurement matters more than flattering results.
